Learn to Play / Training Session
7.30-8pm Wednesdays

These sessions will focus on developing people’s skills and understanding the game of water polo. Each week we focus on different things, but here is a general overview:

  • Building confidence moving around the pool and basic ball skills
  • Building game awareness and shooting skills
  • Building passing, shooting and defensive skills
  • Scratch match to consolidate all the drills and skills covered.

Cost swim entry each week or use your BALC membership

About Our Club

We are a group of both experienced and new players who come together to have fun in the water, and compete when we can.

Training

We train on a Wednesday night at the Ballarat Aquatic & Lifestyle Centre, from 7.30pm-8.45pm. We are always learning and having fun as we go. New players always welcome.

FAQs about Water Polo

Water Polo can be a great way to be fit and part of a community.

Is Water Polo a contact sport?

Yes it is –  we only bite sometimes.

How many players on a team?

There are 7 players on the field, and then you have a bench of subs.

How old can I be to play?

Kids can start from an age that they feel comfortable in the water. Senior players are similar, as long as you can swim comfortably you can play.

Are there positions you play?

There are positions however it is a fluid sport and you can change positions depending on the game at play.

What is the egg beater?

Egg beater is the movement used in the water to keep you upright.

Do I need to ride a horse?

No, Water Polo does not involve horses!
